We designed this house set on a striking wetland-bound site in Water Mill, New York. The style of the house was inspired by the local architectural vernacular, a two-story, 6-bedroom shingled house and accompanying landscape, including a pool, with sweeping views of the natural landscape. The presence of wetlands presented a challenge for building on this sensitive site. Through a program of native plantings and soil remediation, we were able to create a landscape that incorporates views across a lawn and meadow towards the bay.
