Tribeca Courtyard

We were asked to design the lobby, library, and courtyard of a condominium tower in downtown Manhattan. For the courtyard garden, we designed a geometric collage of planters in grey and black pigmented concrete containing plantings of various sizes and textures. Meant to be viewed from the apartments and corridors above, the landscape recalls the balance and order of the karesanusi dry rock gardens of Japan.

The courtyard garden is a series of interlocking pigmented cast-concrete planters containing a redbud tree and various ground cover plantings. The plantings include compact cherry laurel, Japanese-painted fern, and cushion moss. The tree is a white flowering eastern redbud.
